Blog Design Changes For the Tech Challenged

I don’t really know what to say about our new look except….”Omg, y’all!!!”

Seriously…..check out the new design!

Hats off to carrielovesdesign (found her on Etsy!) for the complete overhaul and installation!

I have been wanting to change my design for so long but I’m completely ridiculous when it comes to anything tech.  Like at the day job….., I wasn’t allowed to use the photocopier any more…I’m not sure what happened but it really did stop working when I was walking by. Hats off to all of my admin assitants for doing all of my printing and photocopying for the past 20 years!

And after the “diet coke incident” of 2005, I couldn’t have laptop either. At work, I mean. I have one at home and I’m using it now but it’s full of food that I’ve eaten over top of it. That should tell you everything you need to know right there.

Just an aside………..If you’re interested in cause and effect….Dropping a full can of Diet Coke on your laptop (at 8am before the phone lines open at a child protection agency where you’re the “first responder”!)….well, it makes a fizzling sound before the entire thing sparks and stops working. True story.

I was so freaked out, I called the one friend I have in IT and begged him to come to my desk. I wouldn’t even tell him why…I kind of made it sound like there would be balloons and strippers just to get him up there. He walked away with my dripping laptop, shaking his head, and saying he didn’t know what he could do for me. (Thanks, Gary!!) Because the fellow that ran the IT department at the time pretty much had enough of me.

So, you can understand why I’ve put off changing things in the blog department.

But yesterday, I finally made a decision. I contacted Carrie, asked a few questions, asked to change some font colors and BAM! we had a plan.

The best part was that I talked to her last night (and by “talked” I mean emailed—because I’m socially awkward as well….ask anyone I’ve ever dated. Or spoken to.) and by noon today, we had a new look.

Carrie was the bomb. I chose a “responsive blogger template”. I don’t actually know what that means except for the blog works on mobile devices (I think???) but I mostly liked the pretty colors and design. And she was so great. Can I have navy instead of black? No problem. Can you do it for me so I don’t break my house and computer? No problem. Do you know where my keys are? Ok. That wasn’t really her problem to be fair. And when I woke up today, we pretty much had a whole new look.

Which is super great when you consider I’m also the most indecisive person ever. Like I second guess everything. So if you give me any time at all, I’ll probably freak out and change things and wander around in circles. Quick computer tech peeps are made for folks like me. It’s not that I’m afraid of living with bad choices since I know everything is pretty much fixable but if you leave me with too much time to re-think things, I will make myself crazy. I’m kind of a dork like that. I’m still not sure about my dog’s name and she’s 12. And I regret the nail polish I wore at my wedding. In 1989.

So hat’s off to Carrie from carrielovesdesign because she nailed it!

UPDATE- We migrated from Blogger to WordPress on August 23, 2015 and the theme and changes didn’t travel well so we’ll be needing another update soon. So sad about this.  Loved this design.
