Happy 3rd Blogiversary

I’m not very good at remembering important dates like anniversaries. (Sorry to my ex-husband about that….it wasn’t personal). But I happened to notice that today was our 3rd blogiversary at 24 Cottonwood Lane. Wow!

24 Cottonwood Lane 3rd blogiversary

When I started 24 Cottonwood Lane, Liam was 14 months old and attending daycare 5 days a week. Aiden was 2 months old and sleeping almost 22 hours a day. When he was awake, he was a crying, jittery mess. (Withdrawing from drugs and alcohol and all that good stuff.) I was a little lonely, a bit stir crazy, and on my second “parental” leave in a year. I was crafting and painting to keep busy and needed some kind of a creative outlet. And so the blog was born.

Fun facts about this blog. Our street address at the time was 24 Cottonwood Drive….we’ve since moved. Hence, the name. I was too brain fried and sleep deprived to be more creative. The most I could do was switch the drive to lane. Do I wish I’d been more creative? Sure do. But 24CL it is and we’re together. For-evah! Truth be told, I hated that house from the day I took possession. It was dirty, tired, and needed a total overhaul. Liam was only 4 months old when I signed on and I was not making the most rational decisions. Lessons learned.

It’s been a fun and interesting 3 years and I never actually thought blogging would become my full time “thing”. I was just trying to keep sane and stay in touch with long distance family members. Because I’m really bad at talking on the phone. Hate it.

The best thing about blogging is the people. Bloggers (at least in my niche) are the best. Seriously. You’ll never meet a nicer, friendlier and more welcoming group of people than other home/mom/DIY bloggers. None of that nasty competitiveness that shows up in the workplace now and then, no backstabbing, no drama….what’s not to love about that? Also, you can work in your pajamas. That has long been my goal. Kidding. Not really.

Blogging is interesting. Sometimes you write a post that you think is the bomb and all you hear is crickets. Other times you put something together based on a thought in the back of your head, hit publish and expect nothing, since it was just kind of meant for you or a friend who asked a question. Boom…a viral post. So unpredictable. At least it is for me.

Because of our blogiversary, I thought I’d share our top 10 posts of the past 3 years. Or, rather, your top 10 since the popularity of these posts was all up to you. Here you go… Your most loved and shared posts of the past three years.
