Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa With 10 Grown Up Hot Chocolate Ideas

Slow Cooker Hot Cocoa Recipe with 10 Ideas for Spiked Hot Chocolate

In a couple of weeks, I’ll be hosting a cookie exchange at my house (my first!) and one of the things I want to put together for the event is a hot chocolate bar. Or hot cocoa bar. Or chocolate all the things bar. Of course, we’re including marshmallows, and crushed candy cane but I think what’s going to take this party up a level is a spiked hot chocolate bar. Mmmmm…..boozy chocolate things.

Today I’m sharing my slow cooker hot cocoa recipe along with 10 grown up hot chocolate recipes. Why the slow cooker? Because instant hot chocolate is fine for the kids but not the 10 women with full time jobs who just baked 10 dozen cookies. And, I work hard too, so I don’t want to stand around serving all night. Why spiked? Ummm….if you’re asking that question, you’re visiting the wrong blog. Here are a few great spiked hot chocolate ideas with my favorite hot cocoa recipe at the bottom of this post.

Weekend Features- Inspired by You Week #10

Hey, hey! Welcome to the weekend and our regular weekend features article. Hope everyone’s had a good week.

I’ve been keeping a low profile the past two weeks since I’m trying to get furniture orders finished and out of my garage. Hopefully, I’ll be done and have some details about these last couple of projects in the next few weeks or so.  I did share my pink lamp dilemma where I asked for reader ideas on whether or not to paint these babies. The brass bottom is going but I’m still undecided about the rest of it.

Let me know what you think about the merits of painting these sixties charmers.

And now it’s on to our weekend features. I love looking through everyone’s posts and seeing what incredible things that people get up to. This is totally my favorite article every week and the research is so much fun. 😉

I need to start off with this great tip since I’m an avid spray painter. Courtenay at Creek Line House shared the best tip for getting spray paint off of your hands! Who knew?

The Creek Line House

Debra from Housewife Eclectic shared her recipe for Honey Sesame Chicken. Yum!

Kevin from Kevin’s Cooking whipped up Chocolate Creme Brulee. I could die. I’m currently stalking this guy on Facebook for the food porn.

Inspired By You- Weekend Features #8

Another week has slipped on by and I’m nowhere near having all my summer projects completed. And we’ve only been to the trailer twice this year! Mostly because of all the rain this summer and the amount of screaming the boys do. Trapped in a tin can with a couple of screamers = momma needs to up her meds. I know we’re going to have to sell the trailer before we move but I keep holding out for good weather and better behaviour.

We did get around to trying out some summer salads this week. Total success with the boys.

And I finally told the story of our future move down south and why I need to fill in some blank walls.

Got a glass of something yummy? Kick back and check out our weekly features by these talented bloggers.

Jen at Yummy Healthy Easy made this delicious Tropical Smoothie Bowl. Because apparently I’m not the only one tired of drinking my food.

Have you heard of the Food Nanny? I’m her newest and biggest fan. Not just because of these yummy Fish Tacos, either. Although fish tacos are pretty much my favorite vacation food.

Inspired By You- Weekend Features #3

Happy Independence weekend! And Happy Canada Day, too!

I think I mentioned that Liam had a seizure last weekend. Liam had a great time at the ER and treated it like his own personal party. Because that’s how he rolls. Me? I’m still a little freaked out and recovering from our McDonald’s feast at 1:00 am when we left the hospital. 6 hours in emerge for 5 minutes with a doctor who couldn’t tell us much.

Despite the rocky start, we’ve had a productive week. We finished up a couple of pieces for clients including this amazing dresser that we turned into a media center.

And then Liam and I brought my grandmother’s bread recipe back to life….Much yum.

And now, it’s time to kick back and check out some blog talent. Get comfy and read on.

I love this idea of a pre-made baby book for new moms from Linda at Craftaholics Anonymous. Particularly since I’m still working on my oldest’s scrap book. She’s 24 and all.

Sam at Pancake Warriors shared this Tomato Avocado Salad with tips on how to make a balsamic reduction, as well. She even has a secret for keeping the avocado from turning brown. Nice.

Cindy at DIY Beautify shared her coffee fail and the gorgeous fix she came up with. Major rehabilitation!

Another pretty furniture makeover by Marie at the Interior Frugalista. She really went to town on the details!

I heart lemon and no bake anything. But Jocelyn at Bru Crew Life amped up this lemon pie with the addition of berries and a cookie crumb crust.

I could seriously die at this glamorous chicken coop by LZ from The Summery Umbrella. Chickens totally deserve swanky curtains and a chandelier.

I heart bacon. And corn. So I was pretty psyched to find this yummy recipe for Toasted Corn Salad from Brandy at Teaspoon of Goodness.

What a difference a little bit (or a lot!) or organizing makes! Samantha at Little Bits of Home shared her re-organized linen closet.

Here’s a great night table makeover from Paige at A Junkchick Life. She has really mastered the chalk paint and the wax. That color is so pretty.

And then there was the little three drawer dresser makeover from Reeves at The Weathered Door. A heck of a lot of work went into this one. Can’t wait to try milk paint for myself.

Love these projects? Me, too. Be sure to pin from the original site 🙂

Are you interested in having your project featured on our weekend round up? I’m particularly interested in new bloggers and helping you get your work seen. Your pictures don’t need to be magazine perfect and you don’t need thousands of followers. Email me or contact me on Facebook and let me know what you’ve been up to.

Have an amazing week, peeps!
