12 Gorgeous Neutral Fall Decorating Ideas

Oh, hey, autumn. I see you’re back. And it looks like I don’t hate you as much as I used to.

I used to loathe fall because summer was always my favorite season but this year, I’m more than ready for it. I don’t know when I stopped thinking the heat was great but I’m super glad we missed most of it by spending the month of July in South Africa.

Where it was winter. Which means it actually felt more like a nice spring day most of the time. No summer heat for me this year, thanks very much. #perimenopausal #actuallyreallymenopausal

We’re avoiding Halloween this year by heading to the Dominican Republic and we’ll be skipping Thanksgiving as well with some sort of weekend away. Niagara Falls? (If you’ve been with kids and you have tips, I want to hear from you!)

Holidays are so hard on kids with special needs, particularly those who have sensory issues. They get completely overloaded and start melting down all over the place.

Which means we’re not doing a heck ton of entertaining or partying because we’ll be on the road. But that hasn’t stopped me from pinning and saving some gorgeous fall decor ideas to my Fall Pinterest board that pop up on my Bloglovin‘ feed.

So in honor of the season, I’ve rounded up some really lovely decor ideas from other talented bloggers while I continue packing for the Dominican. Hell, yeah! #rumpunchistotallyafalldrink #daydrinkingallthedays

Spooky Halloween Foyer

I’ve had the fall decorations up in the fall for a few weeks now (since I took the room back from Bubba) and wanted to switch things up to get ready for the neighborhood Trick or Treaters.  I don’t usually do that much for Halloween but with little ones at home again, I’ve decided to start amping things up.

You probably remember the before….

I left the mirror up but switched out the art in the gold frame for something easy and homemade from scrapbook paper, chipboard letters, and a doilie…The wine bottle is covered with a Martha Stewart adhesive label that was 60% off at Michael’s.  The frame is a thrift store find.  I spray painted the branches from my Japanese Maple out front to make them more spooky looking.

After adding a scrap of lace, some more Michael’s sale finds, and dollar store goodies…..this was the end result….

I think the entire “project” cost under $25!  Love that! And the foyer looks so darn cute!

Foyer Makeover

As I’ve mentioned before, we live in a two bedroom ranch house that suited baby L and I perfectly until Bubba came along.  Since it took forever for L. to learn to sleep through the night (and this is still under negotiations!) I didn’t want to put the new baby in with him and risk everyone being up all night long.  The foyer had a pocket door that closed it off from the living room so poor baby Bubba found himself in the foyer and we found ourselves using the side door.

Well, Bubba finally got his own room yesterday and I reclaimed my foyer!  With a few fall projects already underway, a huge sale at the local thrift store, and some spray paint I was able to put together a cute and welcoming fall entryway.

So here’s the BEFORE….

Foyer before (as a nursery)

And here’s the AFTER….

Now I feel like I’m living in a grown up house once again!  Love how this turned out!

Most everything I used for the fall table is from thrift stores.  The mirror was a $4.99 find that I spray painted as were the frames on the wall.  I filled them with craft paper and added chip board letters.

Check out the gold tin!  And with 50% off, I paid just 99 cents!!!

Added some florist foam and shredded paper from Michael’s….

And these cute gourds were also 50% off at the grocery store this week….seems like my procrastinating paid off….

Put it all together and this was the end result…

I’m just thrilled with how all my projects turned out and the foyer just feels so warm and inviting now. I love it so much I’m going to try linking it up to the Happy Hour Party at Design, Dining, and Diapers, which is one of my favorite blogs.

So stop on by and feel free to use the front door!
